We’ve all heard about the various types of cancers that can affect a woman's life at any point in her life, but I’m going to shed some light on a type of cancer that at least one in seven men undergo- Prostate Cancer.
September is celebrated as prostate cancer awareness month so lets talk about this undiscussed cancer.Prostate cancer is a type of cancer that occurs in the prostate, a small gland that produces seminal fluid in men.However, it can sometimes spread to other parts of the body.
Causes:
● Age
● Family History
● Genetics
● Race
● Diet
Symptoms:
● Needing to urinate more frequently, often during the night.
● Difficulty in starting to urinate(hesitancy)
● Straining or taking a long time while urinating.
● Feeling that the bladder has not emptied fully.
● Blood in urine or blood in semen.
PSA (Prostate-Specific Antigen) tests and biopsies help diagnose this condition.Treatment options vary depending on the stage and may include surgery, radiation therapy, hormone therapy, or active surveillance once detected.
